and was very self conscious about my weight. One day I decided I was going to start running. I was completely humiliated when I couldn’t even make it around one block. I came home and cried and stepped on the scale – something I never, ever did. When I looked down and saw 173 pounds, it was a massive wake up call. That’s a lot of weight to carry on my frame. The next week, I joined my first gym and took my first group exercise class. I’ll never forget the feeling of moving around and having sweat drip off of me. It was the first time in my life I physically worked so hard and felt so good and I was hooked. I stopped smoking, slowly started learning about nutrition and gradually changed my eating habits. Over the next 2 years I lost almost 50 pounds and my asthma disappeared. I realized early on that working out not only made me feel good physically, but its mental benefits are just as great. It clears my mind, gives me a sense of accomplishment, and boosts my mood daily.
It’s been 25 years (gulp) since I walked through the doors of that first gym and I have worked out 5 days a week ever since. Through my crazy 20’s, 4 pregnancies, good times in life and bad times in life, I have stayed consistent. Over the years my workouts have changed and so have my goals. My goal now is simple – stay healthy and fit for life. Enter Raw45. 3 years ago, I was feeling bored at the gym I belonged to and had 7 stubborn pounds that wouldn’t budge. I knew I needed to try something new. That’s when I bought the Groupon for Raw45 and I absolutely loved it from day 1. I love Elise’s motivating, no nonsense approach and she’s always there to encourage me to work harder. Our 45-minute workouts trump any 1-hour fitness class you can find anywhere else. I love not knowing what each workout has in store for me and that each day there’s a little bit of everything, from cardio to strength training, and it’s always a challenging full body workout. I also love the camaraderie amongst members and the fun atmosphere. Thanks Raw45 for making me the strongest and most fit I’ve been in my life!"
After my Groupon expired, there was no question in my mind, I knew I had to become a member. I couldn’t see myself walking away from something so effective. This was the boost I needed—high energy, excitement, fun and a variety of exercise routines. Within the two-month period, I lost inches from my waistline, my weight dropped, and I went down a size. I decided to purchase the three-day a week plan. I was supercharged!
In my second year at Raw45 (2014), I went through a slump and began to decrease my normal workout routines. I would miss a few days here and there due to 'low' energy and dreariness. I couldn’t shake it. Later I went to the doctor for a physical and was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Wait, high blood pressure, this was the first I heard of it. However, as I thought about it, I knew it was due to my present circumstance and I had to get back on track. To aid in my journey, one of my friends surprised me with a Nutri-Bullet. When that happened, I knew this was my road toward recovery.
In the summer of 2015, I got back on track. I began to eliminate things from my plate that brought me the greatest grief. I REFUSED to have high blood pressure! I knew I had to make a change for my health. The process wasn’t easy. I had to change my mindset, diet (I splurge sparingly) and my goals. I began to keep track of my workouts, food and sleep. Earlier in my journey, I didn’t foresee the necessity of keeping track of anything. Now I realize these are vital tools in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Determination + goal setting + mindset change = success. I’m a firm believer of 'staying on course' in whatever goals you set for yourself. I am determined to win!
I appreciate Elise, Amy, Teri, Stephanie and Lisa. They are truly die-hard trainers who don’t allow you to give up. Even in your struggles, they help you through it. When they see you’re not doing your best, they encourage you to keep going, they even step in and workout with you. These ladies are incredible! They make it the best 45 minutes of sweat, burn and pain. In the words of Elise, “This is why you’re here! You chose to be here!” (Yep I did! Lol)"
"My journey with Raw45 began in September 2013 when I was looking for a change in my workout regimen. That is when I purchased a Groupon. I always wanted to do boot camp; however, most of the classes didn’t line up with my busy schedule. Then I visited the company’s webpage and was excited when I looked at the schedule and saw they had early morning classes. Immediately, I knew this Groupon was a winner! Now, three years later, my life is forever changed.
My first day at boot camp was challenging. The music was pumping in high gear and the atmosphere was incredible. This made me excited and nervous, all at the same time. I tried to psych myself out several times saying, “Sonya, what have you gotten yourself into?” I hadn’t known what to expect! Considering the warm-ups, I knew the workouts would be NO JOKE! To this day, I owe a special thanks to Elise for making me feel so at ease, even as she kept a watchful eye out on everyone. I felt the burn throughout every inch of my body in that workout! Even with my apprehension, I knew this was the place I needed to be at, to bring about the change I needed. I understood the song, 'burn baby burn' or Billy Blanks famous words, 'no pain, no gain.'
Yvette - "I struggled with my weight from a young age. Growing up on Southern cooking and Mexican food, the odds were stacked against me. I was a chubby child and had asthma, which led to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. As a teen my eating habits became even worse, consisting mainly of fast food and sweets, I smoked and was very inactive. At the age of 19, I felt horrible about myself – at a time when I should be having the time of my life, I hated what I saw in the mirror, had low self esteem,

this “approach” causes problems for shoulder labrums (who knew) and as time went on, my arm would periodically go numb and even changing the radio in the car was a huge chore. After surgery to repair the labrum (nightmare), it was clear that my weight lifting days were over. One day, totally out of the blue, my wife told me about this new boot camp studio on Main Street. Even to this day, I have no idea what got me through the doors the first time.
Fast forward 3 years – I think I’m now one of the longest tenured members and love going to Raw45 4 days a week. Raw45’s workouts have completely changed my body and my view of exercise (hint: group fitness actually is for men, too). I love the constantly changing workouts, love the approach to stations and the fact that you can get a full body workout in 45 amazingly-efficient minutes. I can’t picture Raw45 not being part of my life."
"Activity has always been a big part of my life. I really enjoy exercise and find it helpful for managing stress. Although I consistently maintain a high level of activity, my weight has always fluctuated and I have struggled to find a point where I am happy and fell confident about my body. I was in a rut and looking for something different when I found Raw45. I knew I needed a change from my mundane routine. I wasn’t sure what to expect but left my first class feeling discouraged thinking, “I’m in awful shape!” I was determined to change so I stuck with it since the workouts were different from anything I tried before, class was fun, and the circuit was new and challenging every day. Soon classes started getting easier, and I began to see changes in my body. I was shocked! I was spending less time exercising but seeing better results. This momentum encouraged me to clean up my diet and that is when things really changed for me. Diet and exercise go hand-in-hand and soon I found myself wanting to eat healthy because it enhanced the results I saw after putting in hard work at the gym. Over the summer, I challenged myself to run two miles every day after class and I have rarely missed a day. I am immensely grateful for this wonderful community that provides me with endless encouragement, innovation, and inspiration. Now I am in the best shape of my life and have found the confidence I was looking for by embracing a healthy and balanced lifestyle."
workout for all abilities, whether you are a workout pro, or a newbie Raw45 is tailored for all abilities. There are no mirrors or people standing around the lat pull down machine. People go there to get in shape. The trainers are amazing and because of the small groups it feels like you have your own personal trainer. 2 years later, with Raw45 and some diet adjustments (and I still eat pizza and burgers), I am 30 lbs lighter, 3 suit sizes smaller, and my doctor says my blood pressure is lower than when I was in my 20's. Raw45 has literally changed my life and health. "
racquetball (more to come on this) and bike riding (huge waste of time) sprinkled in. My wife had suggested at various times to come with her to group fitness classes – I basically avoided those like the plague. Group fitness wasn’t for men, I was convinced of that, and for sure not for someone as committed to fitness as me. I was still convinced my never-changing, solitary workout program was the answer.
In the early 2000s, I began to play a lot of racquetball. I loved to play and found it was not only great fun, but also a super workout. I particularly liked the swing-as-hard-as-you-can shots and tried to make that part of my “game.” Apparently,
"I joined Raw45 about 2 years ago with my wife. We bought a Groupon and wanted to try something new out. After the initial month I decided to stick with it because not only was I seeing results, but I was having fun. Since the time I've joined, I've lost 135 pounds, but it's not only losing weight. Every day I feel stronger and better than I ever have before. I have more stamina and energy to play with my kids, and I can't remember the last time I've felt so good. I'd like to thank Elise and the team at Raw45. It's an absolute blast to see what they have in store for us each morning. This workout has changed my life, and if I could do it, anyone can."
"Hi I'm Kelly and one word that describes my fitness story throughout my life is "inconsistent." Although I would exercise for a period of time, I would eventually get bored and then stop. I went from joining various health clubs and doing my own thing, to taking classes such as aerobics and spinning, to running, to doing P90X in my basement. Although these things were great, I would always eventually stop and then be in a rut. As I approached the dreaded turning 50 years old couple years ago I decided I needed to find something that I would stick with and I wanted to feel healthy and strong. I still remember that first day when I dragged my husband to this new boot camp that I bought a Groupon for. We walked in and looked at what was going on and I was thinking "what did Iget myself into? This is WAY out of my league!" Elise was so welcoming and made me feel so comfortable. After the first week, I was hooked! I can honestly say that I feel and look better than I did 20 years ago and I owe it all to Raw 45! I never get bored and have
never done the same workout in almost 3 years. I have more energy and I feel
more confident. The owners and trainers make this all possible for me to stick
with something so long and I am so appreciative! Thank you for being the
best part of my day!"
"I’m not trying to garner some nickname by exercising my way into peak athletic
shape – though ‘Crusher’ has a nice ring to it. I’m a middle-aged guy who has
spent years cycling up and down in weight, trying pretty much every trendy
workout video and diet plan that has come along. Honestly, they all work for awhile,
but pretty quickly the fad diets get repetitive, and the workout videos do too. It
does not take long before the desire to drag your butt downstairs into the basement
at 5:30am to listen to the same workout video again fades, and the sleep option
wins out. I can still recite a few of the 90-day workout videos word-for-word, unfortunately.
In fall of 2013, I was lost – my weight was way up, my workout drive was way down. I was in a rut. On a whim Kelly bought a discounted month of bootcamp. No idea what that even was, but she caught me during couch time, while I was distracted by the TV, so I agreed to it. My first class, I was gassed from the warm-up! What did she get me into?? This bootcamp stuff is HARD!
It’s hard, but it’s different every day, so I stuck with it. From 3 days a week at 6:30am - I swore I would never get up earlier than that to work out - to my current 5 days a week at 5:45am. I do it because it's never routine - always challenging, always different, with motivating trainers and music. So many days, it truly is the best part of my day! 30 lbs and a new set of belts and pants later, I am still going strong and loving it. Thanks to Elise, Amy, Teri, Stephanie (and Lisa) for getting me moving and keeping me moving!"
"Hi! I’m Maddie, and I’m 19 years old. My journey starts at the beginning of high school. During my first 3 years of high school, I was strong and fit, thanks to my involvement in competitive cheerleading. However, my mindset was not so strong. I was never too confident in my body image. People would complement me, but I never believed them. When I looked in the mirror, all I saw were flaws. At the beginning of senior year, I decided that I wanted to start eating healthier. So I started off by eating more fruits and veggies, and cutting out some carbs. However, things soon took a turn for the worst. I gradually started restricting and restricting my diet, until it got to the point where I was only eating super small portions of vegetables, and that was it. My body suffered, too.
The pounds fell right off of me, and I was soon just a walking skeleton. I had lost
all of my body fat, and my muscles were wasting away. The odd thing was that I had
no idea what I was doing to myself. I looked in the mirror, I saw that I was losing
weight, and that made me happy. I never realized how much weight I was really
losing. People stared at me, but I didn’t notice. My family was concerned, but I
always managed to brush them away. One day, mom finally convinced me to go to
the doctor. I was 5’7”, and I weighed just 94 pounds. After listening to my heart and
performing an EKG, the doctor told me that my weight loss had caused my heart
rate to become dangerously low. I had to go to the emergency room as soon as
I was admitted to the hospital on April 15th, 2015. The day after my 18th birthday.
I was lying in the hospital bed, machines hooked up to me and an IV jabbed into
my arm. My parents were sitting next to my bed, tears in their eyes. I could not
comprehend what was going on. Soon, a doctor walked into the room. The next 3 words that came out of his mouth changed my life forever: “you have anorexia”. Suddenly, reality came rushing back to me. Anorexia had taken over my life. It had blinded me into thinking nothing was wrong. This disease was going to kill me. I didn’t want to die; I had so much to live for. From that moment on, I fought my way out of anorexia’s tight grasp and began my road to recovery.
Along with continuous support from a nutritionist, therapist, family, and friends, I gradually began to gain my weight back. I continued to feel better every day. I was determined to be healthy again. By August 2015, my nutritionist told me that I was cleared to start exercising again. And that’s when I joined Raw45.
My parents had been members for quite a while, and they were always raving about how much they liked it. I decided to give it a try. At first, the exercises were tough, especially the ones with weights. My muscles were still completely wasted away from losing all the weight, so I was pretty weak. But the fun environment and the encouraging instructors made me want to keep trying. After going to Raw45 for about a month, I already noticed a difference in my appearance. I was getting a lot stronger, and I could see my muscles building up. I continued to improve after every session.
After being a member for about a year now, I am proud to say that Raw45
has been a big part of helping me gain back 30 pounds since my lowest
weight. I am much more confident in myself now. Raw45 has helped me
become stronger, both inside and out!"
"Hi I'm Vivian! I'm an Allstar cheerleader which requires a lot of cardio and
strength. I started boot camp because I knew it would help me be stronger
in cheer. Also everyone else in my family already did it and I was tired of
hearing them talk about something that I wasn't included in! Overall
boot camp is a great place to be! They play awesome music and have great
workouts and are always different every time you go. Boot camp always has
positive vibes and is a great place!"
"A little over 2 years ago, I was 25 lbs overweight and with a family history of high blood pressure, every doctor visit became a lecture that I had to lose weight and that I was extremely close to joining a family tradition of taking blood pressure meds. I was determined to not be part of that club. I had always gone to the gym and "worked out" going to the standard big box chain gyms. Doing the standard "lifting" and "cardio" workout I learned when I was 14. Well 25 lbs overweight later I needed to try something else. This is where the team at Raw 45 changed not only my whole mindset on "working out" but I learned that spending 45 minutes with Raw45 was giving me the results I wasn't getting spending 2-3 hours at the gym. The combination of high intensity full body circuit training using a combination of body weight or weights, was unlike anything I had ever seen. It is the perfect
"Growing up, I was a figure skater in top physical shape. Once I stopped skating and went to college both my physical activity and eating habits changed for the worst. I gained a bunch of weight and was in overall bad health.
Even though I was consistently exercising, I really did not see any results. So I decided it was time for a change. I found the change I needed at Raw45. I vividly remember my first class and just the warm up was hard. After 10 minutes into the class I knew it was the place for me! Elise, Amy and the rest of the trainers are some of the most incredible people I have met. Everytime I go to workout I am challenged and always leave feeling great! The workouts are designed to meet all levels of ability with allowing you to push yourself as hard as you can.
Since I started working out at Raw45, I have lost 30 pounds and 20 inches. I feel stronger and believe I would give my younger self a run for her money. Not only has my overall health and fitness changed, but also my mental strength. Last year Elise and the team helped me achieve a personal goal of mine. I have never been a runner, and decided I wanted to change that. I set a goal of running a half marathon, but was not sure if I could. Elise supported me in this goal and even registered to run the half marathon with me. I really cannot say enough how much it meant to me to have Elise encourage me physically and mentally to tackle that challenge. My life motto is “Challenge Accepted” and Raw45 has become a major part of that."
"Before coming to Raw45, I was a runner. Even though I kept increasing my distance, training for more half marathons, I started packing on weight. Frustrated, I started running less and less.
In March of 2015, I realized I needed something different, but the idea of “boot camp” seemed intimidating to me. In my head, I pictured a scene from a movie with someone yelling at me while I struggled to lift weights. I was absolutely wrong.
The trainers at Raw45 are super friendly, but challenge you to push yourself. The circuit stations are set-up for any skill level and are constantly changing, which keeps workouts interesting. (You can do anything for 45 seconds, right?)
Within the first six months, I lost nearly 20 pounds while gaining muscle and I’ve kept most of the weight off. Adding Raw45 workouts to my week was one of the best decisions I’ve made. My hair might be getting grayer, but I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life!"
Brad - "I’ve been actively exercising for as long as I can remember. After playing sports growing up and finishing with football in college, there’s hardly a day that went by that I wasn’t doing something physically. After college was over, I had to figure out what my exercise regime would look like. My response: continue to train as though I was still playing football (I’m not very creative) – lifting weights and running, with stair climbing,
